How Much will My cake Cost?
Depending on the size, how it will be served and the degree of work involved will affect the cost of the cake.
To Give a Basic indication- Tall Single tier cakes from $270 Plain Iced two tier cakes start at $400- Three tiers from $465. Minimum commission $250.
As a general guide a Modestly decorated Three tier 80 dessert portion cake will begin around $650.


How Far In Advance Do I need to Order My Cake?
Popular Dates including Spring, Autumn, Public Holidays and Festive seasons can book out early. I welcome inquiries at any stage though.
It is advisable that Wedding and Special event Cakes be ordered around 12-20 weeks prior to the event. Cake That! can design a beautiful cake on shorter notice if necessary. Organizing your wedding cake early for popular wedding months e.g... Spring and autumn will avoid disappointment.
I open bookings for cakes within 11 months of the Event date.

Can you Design a Cake Specifically for MY Event?
Absolutely! I LOVE to make and design cakes- especially cakes which match in perfectly with the event styling. Whether it be replicating an intricate Lace pattern- or using elements of your invitation design.
The Grandeur of your cake need only be limited by your budget.
Custom Designed WOW factor cakes- that will knock your guest socks off- begin at around $10 per dessert portion.

Can I choose a Different Flavour for each tier?
Yes you can. Each cake is made onto its own cake board- therefore no two flavours actually touch! You can see a full list of my available flavours HERE

Why Can’t I reach you on the Phone?
Being a sole operator means that I cannot always answer the phone. If you leave a message I will call back as soon as possible. Alternatively I am available through email. sarahjane@cakethat.com.au

Where are you Located?
I see my clients from my cake studio in my private Home in Alderley, Where I have Photo albums, Magazines and Display cakes available for viewing. Please contact me for my specific address details.

Do you offer Credit Card/EFTPOS Facilities?
Eftpos and Credit card payments are able to be taken in person at my home Studio. Please note a 2.5% credit card fee applies.

Will My Cake Be Delivered?
Depending on the size and intricacy of your cake design, it may be safer to have it delivered. I offer Free* Delivery within 10km of CBD as a courtesy to my clients. Specific Delivery times can be discussed at your consultation. Other areas will incur a delivery fee. *Free Delivery is offered to all wedding and specialty cake orders over $500 *Conditions apply

Are Special Dietary Requirements Catered For?
Cake That! Can supply a range of gluten and dairy free cake options. Vegan and Nut free cakes are also available. Please advise of any specific dietary requirements necessary.
Please note that while nuts are able to be excluded from recipes- my kitchen is not an exclusively nut free environment. Products may still contain traces of nuts

Can I get an After Hours Appointment?
Consultations are available around my baking, decorating and delivering schedule. I do offer Saturday Morning and limited After hours Appointments- these times are the most requested and can often have wait times of up to 4 weeks. I reserve Early Saturday Mornings (8am-10am by appointment) for the bulk of consultation times. If you are unable to attend a consultation- I am more than happy to provide formal quotes via email.

Do You Offer Taste Tests?
I offer complimentary sample cake at your consultation (flavour of sample cake will vary from week to week ).  Flavour availability will be posted each week on my Facebook Page. Cake samples are available for collection by prior arrangement. Should you wish to try a specific flavour- small 3" sample cakes are available for $40 per flavour.

Can I buy the cupcake stands from you?
Unfortunately all of my cake stands are custom made and are NOT available for sale. You can however- hire them for up to 3 days for use within South east Queensland. Cake stands are $25 for up to 3 days hire- plus an additional $150 security bond.

Can I supply my own cake to be iced??
Whilst the sentimentality of supplying your Mothers or Grandmothers Fruit cake for you wedding is a lovely gesture.
Due to Health and Hygiene regulations I am unable to ice a cake which has not come from a registered Kitchen.

Do you sell JUST the Personalised toppers?
My hand made personalised toppers are ONLY available with the purchase of a cake. I do not sell them on their own- nor- due to their delicate nature- are they able to be shipped.

Does Cake That! offer Cake decorating Classes?
Whilst I love what I do and love to talk all things cake- unfortunately I do not have the time to personally teach cake decorating.
There are MANY great cake decorators in Brisbane who do offer classes through.
Due to the high volume of emails I receive each week I am also unable to answer general cake decorating questions. Should you be interested in Cake decorating I suggest joining a cake forum- where many fabulous decorators (including myself) are able to offer hints tips and advice.

What are the payment Terms and Conditions?
A full Copy of the Terms and conditions is available here.
A brief outline is Below:
$250 Non refundable deposit required to secure event date.
50% deposit required 6 weeks prior to event.
Cancellations within 12 weeks of the event forfeit all deposits.
Full payment is due 7 days prior to the event.
A $150 Security Deposit is required for all Cake Stands.
Your Security deposit will be returned by the method it was received, e.g.., Cash for Cash, Direct Debit for Direct Debit etc...
Prices remain current for all bookings taken within 12 months of event date.
All changes are subject to availability and quote review.

Being a Chef By trade, I love a challenge and work to create a cake that tastes better than it looks on the outside.

Utilising seasonal and Fresh local produce is my passion.
If you cannot find the flavour you are after, please let me know what suits your tastes and I can offer suggestions to suit.
Flavours and ingredients can be combined to make new flavours (e.g. white chocolate, orange and almond etc...)

Classic Range:

These flavours are available with any order. Classic Flavours include standard Buttercream,  White or Dark Chocolate Ganache fillings between the tiers.

 

Standard

Rich Fruit cake (Matured with Rum.)
Spiced fruits soaked in Rum. The baked cake is then matured for 6 weeks, being slowly “fed” with lashings of rum each week prior to decorating. This cake flavour requires Minimum 8 weeks notice. Additional charges for Cakes over 8” apply.

Boiled Fruit cake. Mild spiced fruit cake with Sherry and Brandy.

Vanilla Butter sponge- English Style Victoria Sponge cake.
Chocolate Cake- Moist and delectable old fashioned chocolate cake.

Dark Chocolate

  • Traditional Mud- A rich Bittersweet Dark Chocolate Cake
  • Mocha Mud - Soft coffee and chocolate flavour
  • Rum and Raisin Mud- My husband’s New favourite- plump raisins in Rum Mudcake
  • Espresso Mud- For the coffee fanatics, a strong coffee flavoured chocolate mud
  • Jaffa Mud- Orange chocolate Flavoured made with fresh orange juice and zest.
  • Dark choc and Raspberry- Fresh raspberries baked into a traditional mud cake
  • Marble Mud- Swirled White and Dark mud cake
  • Peppermint Mud- Mint flavoured
  • Hazelnut Mud- A supremely moist mud flavoured with hazelnut meal (Almond also available.)
  • Macadamia Mud- Rough chopped macadamias through Dark mud cake

White Chocolate

  • White Mud- Creamy white chocolate resulting in a super moist and delicate mud cake

Please note that whilst hygiene is of the highest priority- I cannot exclude any trace elements of nuts as my kitchen is not Nut Exclusive

Cupcakes

The increasing popularity of the cupcake tree, has released a myriad of flavour options for these tasty morsels!

Available in 3 sizes. Regular- perfect for a dessert portion, Mini- When served as dessert allow approx 2 per guest, Petite- Sized to suit cocktail style functions or part of a dessert table- bite sized! Minimum order amounts apply.

Cupcakes are available in all of the flavours above, plus:

  • Citrus poppy seed- Light and tangy citrus cake, also available soaked with citrus syrup, or filled with curd!
  • Orange and Almond cake- moist dense and wickedly delicious!
  • Berry Swirl- Berries folded through a light vanilla cake.
  • Rosewater Cakes- rosewater flavoured cakes are perfect for those looking for something unusual.
  • Vanilla Butter cake-Light and fresh!
  • Choc Chip Butter cake- White or Dark chocolate pieces folded into butter cake

 

 



 

Terms and Conditions

Cake That! Terms and Conditions  
By paying the $250 non refundable booking fee- you agree to the following terms and conditions:
 

Each cake quote is valid for 14 days from date of issue 

50% of the total price is to be paid 6 weeks prior to your event.  

Full payment is due 7days prior. Failure to make payments by the due date MAY result in your order being cancelled   Payment can be made by Cash. Cheque, Money Order or Direct deposit.  Cancellations within 12 weeks of the event date forfeit all previous payments.  Date Changes must be submitted in writing, and the new date is subject to my availability.  

Postponement of order is ONLY available up to 12 weeks prior- subject to my availability. New booking date must be within 3 months of the original booked date. For postponement of dates- 50% Payment of cake is due by original booking date.  Any changes to the original order are subject to viability and quote review.    

Your initial consultation is Free of Charge. Additional consultations may incur a fee.    

Final Numbers are Due 10 days prior to your event. In the event that you do not notify me of your final numbers, the numbers provided on the original quote will be used to determine your cake size, and costing.    

Any errors, corrections or updates to your order must be submitted in writing. Your amended order will then be reissued for your records.
 
Set Up and Delivery

Set up and delivery within 10km drive* CBD is offered free of charge when: Order is $500 or more- not including flowers or embellishments  Free parking is available whilst delivering the cake- up to 30 minutes  Easy access to the venue is provided- eg. Close parking, lift access to higher levels            

Cake table is level, stable, clothed and ready for cake placement    The room is a suitable temperature for your cake- Air conditioning is best 

Cakes are able to be delivered at anytime between 8am and 3pm Monday to Saturday- Late- Time Specific and Sunday deliveries WILL incur a surcharge.  

You are welcome to collect your cake- Monday- Saturday by arrangement. Collection of cakes on Saturdays is Usually restricted to before 9.30am. If you or your representative elect to pick up and set up the cake, you assume all liability and responsibility for the condition of the cake once it leaves our possession 

Whilst all due care is taken when boxing your cake, Cakes transported by you are done so at your own risk. 

Supplying your own fresh flowers

You are welcome to supply your own fresh flowers on the condition that: They are individually wired and taped; pre clustered or set in an invisible oasis block. Should your flowers not be supplied subject to the conditions            

I reserve the right NOT to place them onto your cake.

Flowers must be delivered to the reception venue by the time specified on your order on the event day- or to myself – at a mutually suitable time. 

You are responsible for ordering the correct amount/size of flowers through your florist. Damaged, bruised or poor Quality blooms supplied by you are your responsibility.  

In the event that flowers ordered through me are unavailable, a suitable substitute will be offered.  Please don’t hesitate to call me or to pass on my details to your florist if you have any questions. 

Cake Stand Hire

Cup Cake stand Hire is offered Free of Charge for all cupcake orders over 50 cupcakes.

You may hire or purchase a custom made stand for all orders under 50 cupcakes. 

Ornate Silver and pedestal  Stand Hire incurs a fee. See your Quote for details.  There is a $150 Security Bond required for the use of a cake stand.

The cake stand bond is refunded in the method it is received. (Cash Preferred) The cake stand MUST be returned within 3 days of your event. Please call me to arrange a mutually suitable return time.
 The cake stand is to be returned- as is. There is no need to wash the stand before you return it. In the event the stand is exceptionally dirty, it may be wiped with a damp soft cloth.

At no time is the stand to be placed into a dishwasher, or have a scourer used on it. Any damages to the stand will result in the bond being forfeited. 

Late return of the stand (without consent) will result in the loss of bond.  Failure to return the stand will be regarded as theft.  Any damage must be reported immediately- so that all efforts can be made to have the stand repaired. 

The cake stand is only to be used for the cakes supplied. At no time are heavy ornaments, hot lights (including tea lights) or larger cakes to be placed onto the stand. 

Use of the Cake stand is restricted to SEQ. The stand may be transported to areas outside SEQ with prior arrangement.

Any decorations applied to the stand must be removed (including residue) before its return. 

Cake Design 

Your cakes design is outlined in your official PDF order. Please contact me ASAP with any corrections that may need to be made.   Where possible, a picture of your chosen design will be attached to your order for both of our reference.   Whist all care is taken to complete your order as specified- Factors including but not limited too- such as weather and supply unavailability- MAY result in design changes. Design changes are at Cake That!'s discretion. All cake designs are subject to artistic license, and should Cake That! need to make such changes no further correspondence will be entered into.
 
If you choose to supply your own ribbons, or decorations, they must be suitable for your cake- e.g. enough ribbon, correct thickness, fabric suitability for the design etc… Any figurines supplied for your cake, must be able to be easily attached to the top tier of your cake- preferably being able to stand alone, or with the aide of inbuilt supports.  All items supplied for your cake, must be clearly marked with your surnames and wedding date.  Any items which do not meet hygiene and safety requirement will be unable to be used.  
 
On most occasions we will photograph our cakes and we reserve the right to use any photographs for display or promotion without compensation to you.
 
Our products may contain or come into contact with milk, wheat, nuts, soy, and other allergens. You agree to notify your guests of this risk and hold us harmless for allergic reactions.
 
Performance of this agreement is contingent upon the ability of  Cake That! to complete the agreement and is subject to labour disputes or strikes, accidents, Acts of God, and other causes beyond our control.
